THIMUN Singapore - 2025
From 28th to 31st October 2025, an 18-member delegation from DAIS participated in THIMUN Singapore, one of the world’s most prestigious international MUN conferences. Bringing together students from across continents, the event provided a dynamic platform for cross-cultural dialogue and deliberation on pressing global issues from human rights to sustainable development and international security.
This year, the conference also featured focused debates on "The Impact of AI on Humanity," exploring topics such as cyber surveillance, healthcare transformation, and ethical AI development. THIMUN Singapore was both a forum for debate and a celebration of diplomacy, collaboration, and youth leadership on a truly global stage.
The DAIS delegation excelled throughout the four-day conference. Anoushka Tandon, serving as Deputy Secretary-General, played a pivotal role in coordinating across committees, leading the 30+ member Student Officer team, and serving on the Approval Panel. Her powerful closing ceremony address on the true meaning of leadership left a lasting impression on all present. Vriddhi Shah, as Editor-in-Chief of the Press Team, guided writing, social media, photography, and design departments to deliver dynamic and timely coverage of the conference.
Several delegates showcased exceptional diplomatic and analytical skills during the conference, successfully steering their resolutions to passage after rigorous debate. These include Sanaaya Joisher (SOCHUM, Somalia), Arnav Jain and Vivaan Gupta (Security Council, Somalia), Miraaya Veer (ECOSOC, Brazil), Shriya Sehgal (HRC 1, Brazil), Vihaan Sen (EVC 2, Brazil), and Hitaansh Bhatt (SPC 2, Brazil), reflecting a high level of preparation, collaboration, and leadership.
Beyond the conference, delegates explored Singapore’s vibrant culture, from Orchard Road to Sentosa and the mesmerizing Night Safari, blending intellectual challenge with international exposure and unforgettable memories. The trip was a perfect combination of diplomacy, leadership, and cultural immersion, leaving students with valuable skills and lifelong experiences.
Thimun Singapore - 2024
Sixteen students from grades 9 to 11 and two teachers represented DAIS at THIMUN Singapore 2024, held from October 27 to November 2. Among them, Aanya Shah (11) served as Deputy Secretary General, while Anoushka Tandon (10A) and Apoorv Gupta (10A) held positions as Deputy Chair of GA1 (DISEC) and President of the Security Council, respectively.
The trip kicked off with a day of sightseeing at Sentosa Island, beginning with a stunning cable car ride that offered sweeping views of Singapore’s skyline, Universal Studios, and the coastline. Thereafter, students enjoyed the thrill of luge-karting, racing each other amid excited cheers. As the day drew to a close, the group experienced a captivating night amphitheatre show, complete with lights, music, and animal performances, followed by an enchanting night safari where they explored dimly lit trails to observe fascinating wildlife. Alongside these activities, the delegation completed conference registration at The International French School, the venue for THIMUN, and the Student Officers attended briefings on conference procedures.
On the first day of the conference, delegates engaged in lobbying sessions to draft initial resolutions on pressing topics. With guidance from Aanya, Anoushka, and Apoorv, DAIS delegates gained a deeper understanding of global issues, establishing a strong foundation for debates. The opening ceremony, themed "Peace, Law & Justice," featured impactful speeches by the Chair of the THIMUN board and the French Ambassador to Singapore, both of whom emphasized the importance of global cooperation. The day concluded with a stroll along Orchard Street, where students enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, shopping, and trying local delicacies.
Day 2 saw delegates dive into passionate debates on various resolutions, covering topics like reducing air pollution in major Asian cities (SPC), sustainable tourism in Southeast Asia (SDC), the Israel-Palestine conflict (SC), press freedom and journalist safety (HRC), and the South China Sea situation (DISEC). These discussions were marked by powerful speeches, with many resolutions passing with strong majorities. Anoushka and Apoorv guided their committees with skill, ensuring smooth, productive sessions. After the conference, the group visited Little India, where they enjoyed browsing the shops and soaking up the lively atmosphere. The day ended with a visit to Marina Bay, where they marveled at the iconic Merlion and Marina Bay Sands, savoring the stunning views.
Day 3 began with delegates finalizing resolutions on Issues 1 and 2, focusing on refugee rights and nuclear disarmament, before moving on to lobbying on Issue 3. Students skillfully crafted new resolutions, bringing fresh insights into discussions. After another productive day, they attended a formal dinner at Orchid Country Club, where they enjoyed a relaxing evening, connecting with students from other schools, sharing stories, dancing, and creating lasting memories.
The fourth and final day of the conference proved to be the most memorable. Committees debated on Issue 3, with DAIS delegates leading and contributing actively to ensure their country’s stance was well-represented. The debates were productive, filled with new ideas and practical solutions to global challenges. Delegates engaged in discussions over concrete amendments to the resolutions, aiming to create comprehensive and actionable outcomes. As the conference concluded, the ceremony featured closing remarks from Aanya that left a lasting impression on all participants, bringing the conference to a meaningful end.
THIMUN Singapore – 2022
THIMUN Singapore, one of the premiere international MUNs offered by the THIMUN Foundation, was a memorable and insightful learning experience. The Chairs, Presidents and Deputy Chairs were knowledgeable, friendly and approachable, contributing to an atmosphere of mutual exchange of ideas, opinions and beliefs.
Delegates were encouraged to debate and deliberate at all moments, be it amendments, resolutions or through bloc politics. In addition, the quality of speeches and paperwork was befitting that one would expect from an international MUN conference, and the overall experience was not only incredible fun, but also a manner for delegates to learn the nuances of international relations.
The opportunity for developing crucial real-world skills such as public speaking, critical thinking and decisiveness was unlike any other one gets, making the overall experience extremely enriching for all involved.
The international implementation of a dedicated Web-App made the entire five-day conference efficient, with a multitude of resources effectively collated in a single location, easing the processes for lobbying, viewing resolutions and sending in amendments. THIMUN was further enriched by delegates from diverse ethnic and national backgrounds, creating opportunities to exchange perspectives, broaden worldviews and foster a strong sense of international mindedness.
All in all, THIMUN Singapore provided DAIS delegates with an unforgettable global experience, preparing them for future MUN conferences and debates while strengthening their confidence, collaboration and understanding of international relations.
Thimun Singapore - 2021
- THIMUN Singapore 2021 was the second THIMUN virtual conference that took place from 15th to the 18th November. In follows the THIMUN perspective, the cameo on DAISCO.
- CSE students from the secondary division of the school took part in the conference. In keeping with the tradition, students from IB and DP levels have been invited to participate.
- Singapore THIMUN brought delegates across the world together to discuss matters of global to importance. From addressing climate change to the development of others on the question of the democratization of governmental aids and come up with practical solutions for them.
- Six delegates representing THIMUN International School were directed into 1 committees: Environment Committee, Human Rights Council and Economic Committee in whose development Deputy Gupta and Dhacha on ICC/Deputy Ramakrishnan and Tandora Joshi created and maintained among themselves.
- Over the course of five days, each committees deliberated upon agendas and prepared outside consultations. All the delegates represented the Republic of Senegal in their respective committees. The sessions were held over a Zoom call, with all communication between delegates regarding cities, mediators and representatives using a chat during the THIMUN.
- To ease communication between the six delegates they were permitted to attend the otherwise closed school halls allowed for better collaboration with each of them.
Five Days at THIMUN Singapore 2021
Each committees held its own preparation meeting, during which the delegates were introduced to their student officers and briefed on the upcoming five days, including the background of Senegal. The introduction was done on an online platform, and the first day's session was essentially a formality.
Day 2 began with all delegates giving their policy statements on their respective first agendas. They were then divided into breakout rooms for their respective subtopics where the lobbying process commenced. Delegates got to interact with students from other schools, adding pre-prepared clauses and newly made clauses alike to a document which, after being thoroughly refined, and formed a draft resolution. The draft resolution was later submitted to the Approval Panel. Most of the delegates were able to attain main submitter on their draft resolutions for the first agenda.
On Day 3, the delegates debated upon the resolutions for the first agenda. The delegates debated over the resolutions that had been prepared the previous day, with critics questioning their feasibility and detailing while supporters delivered heartfelt speeches, pleading delegates to vote in favour. The delegates debated over amendments. Ultimately, all of the resolutions and amendments submitted by DAIS students passed. This day, all the resolutions in all of the committees passed.
Day 4 of the conference marked the beginning of the discussion of the second agenda in each of the committees. The delegates were requested to move into breakout rooms of their selected subtopics to commence lobbying much like the second day. The process was now repeated with delegates fighting to be crowned main submitter of the newly made draft resolutions, from which the DAIS students managed to emerge victorious - all the delegations from school managed to attain main submitters in their respective committees.
The last day of committee marked the passing of all the resolutions presented by the delegates of Senegal in our committees. Intense debate over both amendments and the resolutions as a whole was entertained, with amendments being thrown out or praised and incorporated into the final resolution. The committees of EVC and HRC passed 3 out of 3 resolutions presented that day, while EC passed 2 out of the 3. The last session ended with the committees voting on the superlative game of “who’s most likely to...”
This was followed by the closing ceremony where the delegates of Senegal were mentioned in EC, EVC and HRC. All in all, the delegates from DAIS greatly benefitted from this conference, and enjoyed the enriching experience.
THIMUN Singapore - 2020
THIMUN Singapore 2020, the first THIMUN virtual conference, took place from the 16th to the 20th of November, bringing together delegates from around the globe to debate and discuss important issues in the world around us. Delegates were divided into nine committees: ECOSOC, Economic Committee, Environment Committee, Human Rights Committee, Legal and Finance Committee, Political Committee, Sustainable Development Committee, Youth and Health Committee, and the Security Council.
Each committee debated two agendas over the course of five days and passed appropriate resolutions. My allocation for THIMUN 2020 was the United Kingdom in the Environment Committee. The sessions took place on Zoom, while the THIMUN web app allowed delegates to communicate with one another, view resolutions, and access the conference schedule.
Each committee held preparatory meetings where delegates were introduced to their student officers and briefed on the upcoming five days, including the code of conduct, dress code requirements, resolution writing, online lobbying procedures, and the functioning of the THIMUN web app. This was followed by the opening ceremony, marking the official start of the conference.
Day 2 focused on lobbying, with delegates divided into three breakout rooms based on their country’s stance on the first agenda. By the end of the session, each committee had successfully prepared three draft resolutions for debate.
On Day 3, delegates debated the approved resolutions drafted during the previous day's lobbying session. Day 4 followed a similar structure to Day 2, with lobbying conducted for the second agenda of each committee. After the lobbying session, delegates attended an insightful panel discussion that provided valuable perspectives on global issues.
The final three resolutions on the second agenda were debated before the closing ceremony formally concluded the conference. Throughout the event, selected committees welcomed guest speakers, while delegates also benefited from thought-provoking Munity East articles and an engaging panel discussion on the United Nations. The conference was exceptionally well organised, with seamless Zoom sessions, efficient voting procedures, professional student officers, and well-researched debates, making it an enriching virtual MUN experience.
