Transdisciplinary Theme for Grade 6 Project Day

Students of Grade 6 demonstrated their critical thinking skills and creative attitude through a series of performances & class Projects. Their focus was on the transdisciplinary theme: Relationships. They studied beliefs, values and relationships pertaining to families, friends, and culture. Through their performances and hands-on projects, they explored different aspects of the theme and demonstrated that relationships are important in all the subjects to promote engagement, curiosity, experimentation, and investigation.

Class Four Chrismas Assembly

“Join us and be jolly, Bring out the Christmas holly, It’s that time of the year, To spread Christmas cheer.”

Class 4 presented a whole-school assembly to celebrate the spirit of Christmas, DAIS style. The event was complete with song, dance, drama, art, craft and oodles of good cheer. There was a surprise entry by Santa, as he danced to an aerobics routine to stay fit and in shape, ‘hehehe!’ The Christmas carols and the dances were upbeat and thrilling, with familiar melodies and tunes. The assembly had a cheery vibe and was the ideal way to begin the winter holidays.

The online event was entirely planned, scripted, performed, produced, and directed by the students of Class 4, with their teachers and mentors guiding them through the process. The students exhibited creativity, confidence and collaboration through this event.

Primary School Diwali Assembly

Diwali is always a special time at DAIS. It marks new beginnings and reminds us to focus on the positives in life. The Primary school organised an online festive assembly to spread light and cheer amongst the students and the faculty.

Students were encouraged to speak from the heart and say what Diwali means to them and how they would like to spend their Diwali. Eco-friendly rangoli and pollution-free firecrackers emerged as significant ways to create a healthy and safe environment. But the highlight of the event was a picture story by the Hindi teachers, explaining why Diwali symbolizes light, and banishes darkness from our lives. It was a good time to remind children to be thankful and appreciate small reasons to be happy.

The celebration ended with a Diwali song, ‘aayi Diwali aayi’ and lots of good wishes to one and all.

धीरुभाई अंबानी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विद्यालय के प्राइमरी विभाग के बच्चे 'हिन्दी-दिवस' के दिन आभासीय पटल पर मुखरित हो उठे, अवसर था 'हिंदी दिवस'। विद्यालय का ध्येय है- बच्चों में बाल्यावस्था से ही अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सोच के साथ-साथ भारतीय संस्कृति व मूल्यों का आदर व पालन करने की भावना को सम्मान देना। अतः हिंदी दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में भारत की राजभाषा हिंदी के स्वरों से पटल गूँज उठा। यू॰के॰जी॰ व कक्षा एक के बच्चों ने मीठे स्वर में कविता पाठ किया तो कक्षा ३ व ४ के बच्चों ने नारे व तथ्यों से सबको अवगत करवाया। कक्षा चार के बच्चों ने सुंदर काव्य-पाठ किया।

DAIS Salutes INDIA

It is a proud moment for every Indian as we approach our 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021. Being on the digital platform did not deter our students and teachers, who resorted to digital expression to demonstrate their patriotic fervour.

The week-long virtual celebration had an abundance of dance, drama, art, craft, music and oral recitations, to channelize our students’ creativity. Our learners were challenged with quizzes and other online games, to exhibit their knowledge of our country’s struggle for freedom, its history and our national heroes. Through these activities we endeavour to instil in our children pride and honour for our nation and inspire them to stand united. We encourage our ‘GenNext’ and uphold our values of democracy and secularism, and to become responsible global citizens.

Students expressed the concept of freedom and unity in different languages and in a variety of creative ways, making oral presentations, videos, collages, and some interesting art and craft activities, all in the virtual space.

We had a visitor all the way from the North Pole, making an appearance in every Primary school class. Yes, Santa Claus made time for our children and narrated stories about caring, sharing and giving, which is the true essence of Christmas. His presence brought boundless joy to our little ones and made it a ‘December to Remember’.The classroom activities culminated into the hoisting of the National Flag at school, in the presence of a small faculty group, on 15th August. This was followed by some perceptive talks by our school Head Girl and Head Boy, and a reflection on the importance of the occasion by our enthusiastic Cub-captains. Our students also presented a recorded medley of songs and dance performances for the occasion and our senior classes competed in a dance competition.

Celebrating this special day together is a way of honouring the unity in our diverse society and celebrating its vibrant culture.

A December to Remember

This year the Christmas celebrations at DAIS centered around the spirit of love, gratitude, and togetherness. The children participated in many activities related to Christmas, on the virtual platform, ranging from art and craft, to storytelling and carol singing.

The week-long festivities started with students exhibiting their artistic talent by creating Christmas-themed artwork, which was later put together to create beautiful collages and to design Christmas cards.

Our Class 4 cub captains and coordinators escalated the excitement by recording and sharing with their fellow students, videos of what Christmas means to them, the joy they experience while receiving and giving gifts and the thrill of a lit up X’mas tree.

Although we were not physically present on campus, the Christmas cheer rang out with great vigour and zeal, as some of our young students sang and recorded a medley of Christmas carols, spreading the message of faith, happiness, and peace. This set the mood and spread the festive cheer and a sense of togetherness, which was evident in the smiles and awe on the faces of our kids.

Celebrating Children

“Children see magic because they look for it!”

Keeping this quote in mind, the teaching community of the school decided to do just that - create MAGIC for our children.

A day marking childhood, where the focus would be on children and their enjoyment, was planned with great precision and enthusiasm by our teachers. The virtual platform was embraced, and an afternoon of fun, energy and laughter was organised; complete with dance, song, drama, and humour. The result was a special school assembly, that was viewed by each student. The children were enthralled by the talent, vivacity, and passion with which each member of faculty performed.

The programme began with a special message to all the children, by our school Heads.

The songs presented resonated with love and affection for each child. The lyrics revealed how special our children are and what they mean to us. Other songs included duets by teachers and foot-tapping numbers to sing-along.

The Hakuna Matata dance assured the children in Swahili, that "there would be no troubles" in their lives and that there is no garden as beautiful as childhood, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Online teaching, which has become an inevitable part of every teacher’s life, was enacted, and presented by a group of teachers. It was a laugh riot, and it highlighted the virtual ‘goof-ups’ and ‘faux-pas’, with a mix of some light-hearted humour.

The event was summarized with a song, that rightly stated, “You are our WORLD; You are our CHILDREN!”

DAIS Salutes All Teachers

'Guru-Shishya Parampara' has been an important part of our Indian culture. Hence there is nothing better than celebrating this day to thank teachers for all their important lessons and for inspiring children to become better individuals in the world. Teachers inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning.

Today, we bring up the fondest memories of our school days, which are incomplete without the presence of the one who led us into an enlightened world.

DAIS appreciates all great minds, who left a great impact on young minds, and wishes all teachers a Very Happy Teachers’ Day.

DAIS Pays Tribute to India

The Primary DAIS community geared up for a week-long celebration of Indian Independence by hosting the ‘Freedom Week’. All our K-4th Grade students were charged with patriotic fervour, as the week progressed. All the classes were involved in a multitude of activities, which were planned to stir the young ones with pride and respect for our nation. Our children are our beacons of hope and encouragement, as we still fight for our freedom from certain evils of society. The children had stimulating discussions in their classes, as to what ‘freedom’ means to them and their responses and emotions were expressed simply and beautifully. Some students felt that freedom is responsibility; while others expressed that it is a state of peace and unity!

Besides this, the week was infused with dance, music, drama, yoga and art, which evoked the spirit of nationalism. Some classes had interactive sessions with veterans from the Armed Forces, which invoked responsible citizenship and patriotism among our students. Stories of India’s struggle for freedom were narrated and skits were performed by groups of students, in English and Hindi. Quizzes and games were enjoyed, as were songs like “Vande Mataram” and “Saare jahaan se achcha”. The children were dressed up in Indian attire and made the tricolor, as the symbol of a nation that blends many cultures, languages, castes and creed, to live in peace and harmony. All our students paid tribute to our great nation on our 74th Independence Day. Jai Hind!

Virtual teaching or online teaching, अर्थात 'आभासीय शिक्षण' एक नया अनुभव, नया मंच। बच्चों को हिन्दी के प्राथमिक नियमों से परिचित कराना एक चुनौती थी। शुरू हुआ कहानी, कविताओं का सिलसिला और बच्चों ने इसे बड़ी सरलता से अपना लिया। वे सीखने लगे, हिंदी समझना, अक्षर लिखना-बोलना, अपनी बात हिन्दी में खुलकर विस्तार से कहना और नन्ही कविताएँ रचना। बच्चों की हिन्दी भाषा सीखने की क्षमता सचमुच आकाश छू सकती है, इस मंच पर दिखने लगा। ध्रीरूभाई अंबानी इंटरनेशनल स्कूल के बच्चों ने ये कर दिखाया। अपनी राजभाषा के लिए उनका प्रेम और लगाव इस 'आभासीय कक्षा' में और सुंदरता से दिखाई दिया। इस नए सत्र में हिन्दी का आरंभिक चरण बड़ा ही उत्साह से भरा रहा। प्रस्तुत हैं उनके हिन्दी सीखने के प्रयत्न की कुछ झलकियाँ।

DAIS Primary Virtual Art

In times of lockdown with all the uncertainty and anxiety around us, ART worked as an excellent and essential medium to help children express their emotion and uplift their spirit.

The DAIS Virtual Art Classes made it possible to bring the Art Studio to our students’ homes, where the activities were designed with minimal resources, to enable all children to follow easily and work efficiently.

This platform provided the opportunity for an efficient teaching and learning experience, with the free flowing art lessons that ensured to keep the children intrigued, occupied and happy.

Before breaking for the summer holiday season, the children were encouraged to gift themselves the ‘Gift of Art’ so they can build on ideas and create their own wonders.

A Kind Spirit

Anaishaa Murarka of Class 1 B, put the summer holidays and the lock down to good use, by having an ART sale of all the drawings she had made and donating the proceeds to a charity, YVO. She is now the youngest donor to the said charity. Her Artwork is vibrant and spirited, just like her kind gesture to help others.

Crazy about Critters

“A PET is the only thing on Earth that loves you more than it loves itself.”

‘Pet Appreciation Week’ at DAIS was a fun-filled and exciting week-long project for all. The objective behind this idea was to emphasize the importance of animals in our lives and for all to value their pets and appreciate how they enrich our lives each and every day. However, the challenge was to connect with each other’s pets on a virtual platform. But no challenge is too great for our kids!

During the week the students invited and introduced their pets to their peers, through the computer screen, and evoked sighs and remarks from each one. Some proud teacher pet-owners too virtually brought along their pets into the classroom. A variety of pets were presented; including turtles, tortoises, African scarlet parrot, fighter fish, cats, goldfish and of course dogs of several breeds. Each proud owner spoke about their pets’ likes and dislikes, their age, their food, their habits and pet peeves, etc. Some enthusiastic children even related the funniest thing their pets have ever done. Those who didn’t have pets, made do with stuffed toys.

Children were seen swaying to pet tunes, or engaged in clay modeling, creative writing, palm prints, cooking events, art and craft, story-telling and a host of other activities. Some academic concepts were integrated into the theme, in subjects like the Languages, Math, EVS, Social Studies, Yoga and PE.

We also used this platform to educate students on how to take care of their pets and sensitize them about animals and how they help us. This project also helped to create an awareness about love and care for other living things.

The ‘Pet Appreciation Week’ was a memorable week for all involved, pets included!

The Greatest Gift of All

We are the World….

We are the Children!

About 90 days ago when we parted for our Spring break, little did the students and teachers know that we would not be meeting each other physically, for a long time.

The COVIV-19 pandemic has literally brought the world to a standstill!

But learning must never stop! So we moved to virtual schooling, an untapped platform. Our students were happy to meet their friends and study, as if in school.

On April 22nd when we celebrated Earth Day, students of 4B began thinking how they could connect with the community and spread the message of Hope and Life. So when the entire world was indoors and coping with the situation, Class 4 B got busy putting together a rendition of “We are the World” by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, from the safety of their homes. They dared to dream, and sang without reticence about ‘hope’ and ‘change’.

These young minds with big hearts, strongly believe that the world is healing and we have made a good choice by staying indoors. Though we are all distant from each other, we are all united in spirit and it’s time to be grateful for life; the greatest gift of all.
